The Emperor’s Lost Gem

The Emperors Lost Gem is Nutkhut’s immersive theatrical experience on the streets of Luton, which dissolves the boundaries between audience and performance.

A magical promenade for schools, families, children and adults along Bury Park’s High Street. This bespoke production includes shadow puppetry, interactive story-telling/poetry, a short traditional Kathak dance workshop and craft workshop

Created by Nutkhut’s co-Artistic Director Simmy Gupta and based on the children’s stories of the Mughal Emperor Akbar (1542 – 1605) and his favourite advisor, Birbal (1528 – 1583).

Akbar and Birbal are travelling through time to find Akbar’s descendant on the streets of Luton!

Birbal was said to be the most wise, witty and intelligent of Akbar’s nine closest and best advisors known as Akbar’s Nine Jewels or Akbar’s Navrattans – the name also given to a piece of jewellery representing the universe.
