The Redcar Kite Festival, a fantastic weekend event held on Redcar seafront, with kites of all shapes and sizes. This lively festival brought the community together, turning the sky into a colourful spectacle.
“It was an inclusive, special weekend of craft activity which very few school aged children get to enjoy – watching grandparents and grandchildren design and construct together was extra special ” Ajay Chhabra, Nutkhut
With the North Sea as a dramatic backdrop, the festival captures the essence of Redcar and what sets it apart isn’t just the variety of kites, but the community spirit it fosters.
Nutkhut added a unique dimension with its kite making approach for young people.
Kites, much like life, are about balancing control and letting go. Flying a kite, like navigating life’s ups and downs, requires skill and trust. Nutkhut’s workshops teach young people this beautiful metaphor, showing them how relationships (the string) provide direction and stability. The Redcar Kite Festival not only celebrates creativity and culture but also the joy of rising above challenges and enjoying the journey. It’s a fun, inclusive event that everyone loves!
“Once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been, and there you will always long to return.” – Leonardo da Vinci
Nutkhut’s approach is exactly what the Arts in the UK needs – they listen, locate and embed themselves into towns like ours and deliver. Lisa Storey – Redcar and Cleveland Council.
