Inspired by Bollywood films, the show features exciting dance numbers fusing folk, classical, Bhangra, hip hop, jazz, salsa and contemporary dance with all the glamour of Bollywood plus an array of outrageous props, spectacular pyrotechnics and gigantic water effects.

Originally co-commissioned by Greenwich and Docklands International Festival and the Mayor of London, Bollywood Steps was originally created and toured with the participation of local dancers from Liverpool in 2006, and Stockton in 2007. It was presented again in October 2009 in association with Town Hall Birmingham to celebrate the hall’s 175th anniversary.

The show was awarded an Inspire Mark which recognises innovative and exceptional projects directly inspired by the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

"Nutkhut's Bollywood Steps is a sumptuous piece of dance theatre that both plays homage and spoofs the Bollywood film. Even the steps of the Winchester Great Hall turned pink with pleasure and despite England's defeat in the football, everyone was smiling."

- Lyn Gardner, The Guardian, July 2006
